Adult Academy will present a panel discussion and community conversation, taking place at Redeemer Lutheran Church on March 10, 2024, and featuring Richard Heyl de Ortiz, director of the LGBTQ Community Center in Kingston, and Nico Martinez, LGBTQ+ Program and Diversity Manager, Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion for SUNY New Paltz confirmed to join us.
Adult Academy is proud to bring “Queer In the Here and Now: Victories and Challenges for Our Times” to the New Paltz Community. Our discussion will feature the stories and perspectives of leaders positioned to hear and influence the experiences of LGBTQIA+ folks and their allies in the context of a university, local community, and the world beyond. We’ll look at what there is to honor and celebrate as victories, hear as pain and challenge, and opportunities to engage as allies and activists in support of the beloved LGBTQIA+ community.
This conversation is the latest in a monthly series offered by Adult Academy on various pressing issues for our times on second Sundays at 11am. The remaining issues and dates for the 2023-2024 program year are: Black Christians of New Paltz; History and Hope, at New Paltz United Methodist Church, and Unchristian: Reclaiming Faith for Progressives and Activists, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. All events are designed for in-person discussion.
We are actively inviting volunteers, co-sponsors, and speakers for the 2024-2025 program year. For more information, please contact Michelle Ledesma Baer.
This event will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
