"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."

These words were spoken to the disciples by our Risen Lord, Jesus, and it is with these words that the disciples began to inform others about the teaching of Christ.

These words began the Christian church, and it's these same words that lead a small group of people from First Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie, New York to realize that there was a need for a Lutheran church in New Paltz.

It was a lengthy process that saw our congregation worshiping in a number of different locations, whether it was an American Legion Hall or sharing worship space in Lloyd Methodist church, where people on cold days would huddle around borrowed gas stoves to hear and share the Word of God, our congregation remained committed to establishing a Lutheran presence in New Paltz.  And in 1966 our congregation dedicated a house of worship at our current location.

Though we've continued to grow over the years, including an expansion to our worship space in 2001, we've maintained the same devotion to sharing and spreading the Word of God that was present when huddled around those gas stoves.

We welcome you to visit with us, and experience the same joy in Christ that has sustained this congregation throughout the years.
