Dear Brothers and Sisters of Redeemer New Paltz,

COVID-19 is causing disruption in every aspect of our modern lives, from health and daily routines, to work and economic stability, and to personal and group connectedness in our worship community.

We are in uncharted territory. As we strive for new and creative ways to worship and keep our congregation together, supported, and connected during these unusual times, we are reminded that God works in mysterious ways and that work never ceases. How can we continue to "Share Christ's Welcome" with our fellow congregants, friends, neighbors, remaining students, as well as those who may be in need?

This brings us to our heartfelt plea and request to you:

First: Please do try to attend our virtual worship tomorrow. We are working to make it as easy as possible for people to connect. It may be a challenge, and it may take us a week or two to get it right, but know that we are working on this. Our greatest fear during this time is that you, our Redeemer brothers and sisters, will become isolated and disconnected at your time of greatest need. We are working hard to ensure that doesn't happen, but we need you to participate too. Please reach out to Erich Markert at This email address is being protected from spambots. Second: As you may remember from our annual meeting a few months ago, the operating budget for Redeemer New Paltz is extremely lean, and wholly dependent on your offerings. Your weekly and monthly contributions literally keep the lights on, and support the expenses associated with our work and ministry. This includes salaries for our Pastor, Community Coordinator, and Music Director. Any decrease in weekly offerings means that cash flow also declines accordingly, and we may need to tap limited reserves to pay regular bills.

Third: Joyfully, we are in the final leg of our Capital Campaign, thanks to your tremendous generosity. We only need to raise $2,500 before April 30th to receive the matching funds. No gift is too small. Thank you again for all you have contributed so far. If you wish to make a online donation to our Capital Campaign, please visit https://redeemernewpaltz.org/give/donate-now.

There are many ways to continue to make your offerings to Redeemer, either weekly or monthly, and we thank you for your prayerful consideration. We'd like to share a few options you may wish to consider:

  1. Online Giving. You can switch to online giving and make your recurring weekly or monthly donation by credit card. There is a small fee attached to doing this -- you can choose to cover this cost for the church if you wish. This is by far the easiest and most automatic way of giving, and it greatly improves our ability to meet our monthly budget. To sign up for online giving please visit, https://redeemernewpaltz.org/give/donate-now
  2. Offering Envelopes. Just put your check (no cash please) in your weekly envelopes and seal them with tape, add a stamp and put it in the mail. Or, if you wish, put your church envelope inside a regular envelope and mail it (this may be more secure).
  3. Other types of gifts. There are many other tax-advantageous ways to give that may not be so obvious, including gifts from your IRA, gifts of stock, life insurance policies, naming Redeemer in your will, and other planned giving options. Please reach out if you are considering any of the options and we can provide you with more information.

If you are not in a position to continue giving at this time, we understand and please let us know. The economic challenges are very serious for many.

Thank you again for all that you do for Redeemer New Paltz. We cherish you and wish you Christ's peace, strength, and love as we navigate these uncharted waters together. And please let us know if we can help you in any way.

Yours in Christ,

Bill Mennenga, Council President

Doug Upright, Council Treasurer
