Recently at confirmation class I found myself looking at the 15 youth and adults gathered and thinking, “I want them to know Jesus.” “Sure,” I thought to myself, “it’s important for them to memorize the Apostles Creed, and it’s even more important that they are learning to put in their own words the “job descriptions” for each person of the Trinity, and it’s even more important that they are learning to think and pray about how God impacts their lives and the world.
I think about how to help people get to know Jesus all the time, no surprise since I am a pastor! Time and time again I have seen how faith has changed people’s lives for the better, how mountains were literally moved as God stirred their hearts and formed their minds for a life lived one day at a time in the arms of grace.

I recently joined Facebook, not to find old friends (I can’t even keep up with my current friends!) but to see if Facebook could indeed be a ministry tool that could augment in person relationships. Specifically, youth and adults have been telling me that Facebook may help me develop ministry in areas and with people not already being served, such as college and high school youth.
In my first four days on Facebook I was able to connect with a SUNY student whom I had met this summer at Pinecrest Lutheran Leadership School, posted several reflections and articles, and even uploaded a song recorded with several youth in late August. If you haven’t already, please visit my Facebook page and add me as a “friend” and give me a shout to let me know you have found me there!
