How Do I Get There?

Art, Hands, and Heart

Imagine... Focus... Dream...

Imagine a week of summer when children get in touch with their own hearts, spend time in peace, without electronics and other distractions of modern life. Focusing on simple things, like breathing, and using their creativity to make things with paint, fabric and wood. Dreaming using storytelling and puppetry to investigate big themes and wondrous ideas, visualizing the world they want to live in, and feeding the possibility of those dreams. This is Art, Hands and Heart!

What's It All About?

A new kind of summer program that brings the arts and the spirit together, celebrating the world and all that is good in it, through hands-on art and music, mindfulness, stories, games, and play. A place where children can explore myths, legends, and adventures in many different ways! Finding their own stories and celebrating being THEMSELF! Great stories, quality art instruction, centering mindfulness activities, games, music-making, and community building activities help children connect with themselves, each other, and the world.

About Redeemer

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."

These words were spoken to the disciples by our Risen Lord, Jesus, and it is with these words that the disciples began to inform others about the teaching of Christ.

Christ's command to "go therefore and make disciples" began the Christian church, and it's this same command that lead a small group of people from First Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie, New York to realize that there was a need for a Lutheran church in New Paltz.

It was a lengthy process that saw our congregation worshiping in a number of different locations, whether it was an American Legion Hall or sharing worship space in Lloyd Methodist church, where people on cold days would huddle around borrowed gas stoves to hear and share the Word of God, our congregation remained committed to establishing a Lutheran presence in New Paltz. And in 1966 our congregation dedicated a house of worship at our current location.

Though we've continued to grow over the years, including an expansion to our worship space in 2001, we've maintained the same devotion to sharing and spreading the Word of God that was present when huddled around those gas stoves.

We welcome you to visit with us, and experience the same joy in Christ that has sustained this congregation throughout the years.
